Why I Organize Readings When What I Really Want Is To Write

As Sujatha and I reflect on our first season organizing MIA, we are grateful for the community we’ve forged, the friendships we’ve deepened, the new folks we’ve met, and the wildly good work we’ve been able to hear from a broad selection of writers.

Our home for this season has been Hub Coworking, which sadly is closing at the end of June. We are grateful to Hub Founders Meeta and Nam Vu for believing in our idea to re-ignite MIA and for their support.

MIA will be back in September, in a new location — yet to be announced — with a fresh lineup of readings that include a Noir Night and Spooky Stories. So keep the second Thursday of each month marked in your calendar.

As we say a hui hou for the summer, Sujatha gifts this beautiful Substack about why and how and what it means to organize a community literary series.
